What’s on in the 2008 - 2009 NORTH EAST March 6 Carnivale BizarreWodonga, Wodonga Join over 20,000 people experience Carnivale, a melting pot of entertainment, a dynamic blend of music, a sea of colours and sensuous movements, combined with fl air of hospitality, pageantry and great fun. March 7-9 & 14-15 Tastes of Rutherglen, Rutherglen Wine Region 21 wineries celebrate the grape harvest and the region’s full and abundant fl avours in a festival fi lled with food & wine, music and fun for all! October 31 – November 3 [above] Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Wangaratta Internationally acclaimed jazz festival drawing entertainers and people world wide. November 15 - 16 La Dolce Vita Food & Wine Festival, King Valley Food and wine festival with some of Australia’s finest wineries. November 7-9 Beechworth Celtic Festival, Beechworth A stirring celebration of North East’s Celtic past with Concerts, Pipe Bands, Highland and Irish dancing. “Celebrating our Living Celtic Heritage”. March Long weekend 2009 [above] Mitta Muster, Mitta Valley Pack your camping gear, the car and family for a country experience in the picturesque Mitta Valley. See some of the fi nes woodchoppers, whip crackers skilled horseman and all the action at the Ute Muster April 2-5 [above] Man From Snowy River Festival, Tallangatta The Man fom Snowy River Bush Festival is a unique bush gathering that celebrates Jack Riley - ‘The Man from Snowy River’. More than 18,000 people attend the festival to watch some of the country’s fi nest horsemen and women compete for the prestigious title. April 10-12 Golden Horseshoe Festival, Beechworth Celebration of history, culture and music. A grand parade, food court, music, photographic competition. May 17 Beechworth Harvest Festival, Beechworth Celebrating the end of the harvest season. Enjoy the gastronomic delights from the wineries, local restaurants, fruit and vegetable producers. (May, date TBC) December 26-30 [above] Nariel Creek Folk Festival, Towong Take your partners please for a week of traditional folk music, dance and song over the Christmas New Year period. March 13-15 [above] 17th Annual Chryslers on the Murray, Wodonga The largest Chrysler show ’n’ shine outside America, Chryslers on the Murray attracts over 600 display cars from all over Australia. March 21-22 Viva Italia Food, Wine & Music Festival, Wangaratta and region Celebration of the infl uence of Italian food and culture in the region. March 21-22 Yackandandah Folk Festival, Yackandandah Weekend full of live music, markets, workshops, busking and great fun. January 17 [above] Opera in the Alps, Beechworth Opera under the stars at La Trobe. A 100 voice choir and 50 piece orchestra.
